100% Old Wente Clone

Estate grown on our largest ranch just outside Chalk Hill, the fruit for this Chardonnay is 100% Old Wente Clone, an heirloom clone that is rarely planted due to its small yields, but that in return offers fruit with bright acidity and intense flavor. We have only two tiny blocks of this much sought-after clone, and almost all of it goes into this very small wine club exclusive wine.

The beauty of the 2010 Chambers Chardonnay lies in the balancing act between its aromatic elements and bright acidity, and our judicious use of French oak to add a creamy roundness of lemon custard to the fruit flavors. This rare wine has an elegance and refinement akin to a Puligny-Montrachet from Burgundy’s Cote de Beaune region. Its crisp, minerally undertones harmonize with the fragrance of Meyer lemon, ripe kiwi and crisp bosc pear for a wine that pairs beautifully with food from a range of cuisines.
