Sonoma County

100% Cabernet Sauvignon

The 2009 harvest, one of the best in recent times due to a near-perfect growing season, produced a big vintage with bold flavors and superior balance. Although Cabernet Sauvignon is often blended with other Bordeaux varietals, our winemakers were so impressed with the exceptional quality of the fruit from this vintage that they chose to feature the varietal on its own.

We harvested fruit from one benchland vineyard in Dry Creek Valley and three hillside vineyards in neighboring Alexander Valley. The varying sun exposure and temperatures of these two microclimates gave our winemakers a beautiful palette to blend from for a wine that embodies classic Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon: luxurious, with captivating depth and dimension.

Winemaker Notes
The wine exhibits a vibrancy of spiced vanilla, perfumed currants and richly layered dark fruit notes, and the structure and complexity make this wine enjoyable even at a young age. But the voluptuous grip of tannin, the bright acidity and the sweet oak mid-tones give the wine great cellaring potential—for those who are patient enough to do so.
