A new edition to our arsenal of vineyard designated Zinfandels, the Forchini Vineyard Zinfandel is full of dark fruit, spices and luscious toasty oak. With blackberry, boysenberry, plum, and currant, it has great wood aromatics finishing with vanilla and nutmeg. Not only is the wine delicious today but with full tannins, it has the structure to hold up to years of cellaring!
Bright fruit, great mouth feel and structure allows this wines to pair with a wide variety of food. A few recommendations are a grilled bone-in rib eye, wild boar, duck and if you want a more casual meal, try a grilled burger.

We couldn’t be happier with the quality of fruit being sourced from the Forchini family’s vineyard located along the eastern bench of Dry Creek Valley. Even sun exposure on this bench land vineyard helps to create intense varietal character in their Zinfandel fruit.
In 2008, we harvested from two blocks of the Forchini ranch – blocks we have named “Pond” and “Acre”. While the fully ripened Zinfandel fruit brings character, we were able to further improve the quality with our berry-sorting technique. One of only a handful of wineries to employ this technique, we carefully, meticulously and diligently sort through (by hand!) all of the berries after the stems have been removed. This technique, while highly labor intensive and often backbreaking, allows us the opportunity to achieve the holy grail of winemaking – fully flavored mature fruit that is perfectly balanced in sugar and acid. It’s “all hands on deck” when a crop of this nature arrives at the winery!
Following a 2-day cold soak we employed whole-berry fermentation for 100% of the fruit…a very gentle process which yields maximum flavor coupled with impeccable balance. In the end, and we think you will agree, the effort is worth the prize!
This wine is packed with flavors and aromas, seductive and alluring. The nose offers cherry-cola, dusty chocolate, baking spice and raspberry compote (raspberry pie anyone?), which the palate confirms with flavors of fresh red berries and rose petal.
The combination is tantalizing and deep, causing you to wonder: Which is better…contemplation or consumption?

One of our favorite growers to work with, Forchini Vineyards are located on the famous eastern bench of Dry Creek Valley. Andrew Forchini pays as much attention to farming grapes as we do to our winemaking, which says a lot. The two blocks of Zinfandel that we source from the ranch are fondly named Pond and Acre and consistently deliver the distinct and intense fruit character that you have come to expect from our Forchini Zinfandel.
Once the grapes arrive on our doorstep, we maximize the potential of this exceptional fruit and although a sticky and tedious process, sending the fruit through our custom sorting equipment is the first step in the winemaking journey. Here the fruit is sorted not only to the cluster but down to the berry. It’s well worth the effort and is a major step in defining our style of Zinfandel. After fermentation, pressing, and nine months in specially selected French oak barrels the concentrated and complex wine shines for you in your glass.
From the first smell, a Zinfandel fan is hooked by black cherries and warm sasparilla spice. Broad, lush flavors of cherries, plums, and bright pomegranate fruit layered with sweet vanilla and cedar wood spices create a wine with a lingering finish that just doesn’t quit.
Enjoy a glass of Forchini Zinfandel with grilled pork tenderloin and a cherry reduction sauce. It’s a great combination for dinner tonight.
