After a two-year hiatus, we are thrilled to announce the release of our 2010 Maple Vineyards Zinfandel. Tom and Tina Maple were married 25 years ago in front of the Lambert Bridge fireplace so let’s raise a glass to them!
Always a favorite of our wine club members, we believe the 2010 vintage represents one of our best efforts to date, turning this very thin skinned varietal into one of the most luscious wines ever made from this vineyard.
Like a true Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel, this wine is loaded with fresh fruit through and through. The powerful red fruit that embodies the aroma of this wine is the hallmark of Maple Vineyard. Raspberries, cranberries and candied cherries literally leap from the rim of the glass as classic notes of clove, cinnamon and a hint of sweet wood spice delight and intrigue.
After 10 months of aging in 65% new French oak barrels, this wine’s broad texture fills your mouth while its firm acidity brightens the trademark robust fruit of Maple Zinfandel. Co-fermented with 9% Petite Sirah from an adjacent block, this wine promises to age for at least another 5 years if you have the patience.
Definitely our favorite red varietal for warm summer days, we recommend sharing this Zinfandel with special friends and family for BBQ’s and tailgates. Try it with one of our all-time favorites – baby back ribs!
