Healdsburg comes up idyllic and vibrant in a new video airing nationwide on the “Today in America” show hosted by Terry Bradshaw. The video, which the city contracted for last year, is airing in more than a half-dozen markets, including those in Florida, New York, Portland, Ore. and the Carolinas.
“We hope not only to get increased tourism, but we also hope it will enhance business development,” City Manager Marjie Pettus told the Healdsburg City Council on Monday. Local personalities featured in the video include Circe Sher of h2hotel, Greg Wilcox of Lambert Bridge Winery and Rich Schroeder of General Dynamics.
Also, City Councilman Gary Plass, who was mayor in April 2012 when the video was shot, has a cameo appearance. “I think it’s very well done,” said current Mayor Susan Jones. Jones also noted that the Zagat guide has rated Healdsburg’s food scene in the top 20 worldwide. She added the town’s status as a wine destination is number 2 worldwide, second only to Tuscany.
“I’ve been told by the local wineries that 2012 was a fabulous year for wine, both in abundance and quality of the grapes,” Jones said.
